The Little Theatre has been a lively venue for music, dance and theatre since it opened in 1958. We are always looking for amateur actors, directors, singers, painters, producers, lighting, sound technicians and stage managers. One of the best ways to keep in touch with everything that’s on offer is to become a member today.
Our 178-seat auditorium features state-of-the-art, computer-controlled lighting and sound. We host a vibrant programme including our annual pantomime, cabarets and musical theatre productions for adults and children, alongside visiting productions by Tanzanian and international artists. We also hold regular live music events in the theatre courtyard. The theatre has accumulated an extensive wardrobe with costumes and props available to hire for parties and events, from as little as 10,000 TSH.
Alongside our productions, the theatre hosts weekly dance, fitness and music classes. Our adult choir meets every Tuesday evening and warmly welcomes new members. Many of our young performers take part in our Music, Acting and Dance (MAD) Academy for children aged 5–15, which runs on Saturday mornings and builds strong technical skills while encouraging children to think and grow as performers in a friendly, supportive and professional environment.
The Little Theatre offers a variety of flexible spaces for hire, from the air-conditioned auditorium with professional lighting, sound, dressing rooms and costumes, to an outdoor courtyard with a raised stage for larger celebrations. There is also an intimate bar area with a stage for smaller events, a fully equipped studio for dance and fitness and a kitchen for catering. The Little Theatre is a non-profit organization. Your ticket purchases, membership fees, and donations help us maintain our historic venue and continue providing a creative hub for the community.
